My Reviews

The Music of Dolphins by Karen Hesse

Boring, Slow, Interesting
YOUNG adult

Obviously, it just wasn't meant to be read by adults. For children, it may have been just fine. The overall idea of it was good though. Reminds me of a few movies, all of whose titles escape me right now.

Excellent!

I was really worried when I first started reading it. There were so many characters right off the bat and the three different narratives were confusing. But, once I kept reading, I got things straightened out and thought it was a very good book. I especially loved the many different ways that Alex said the phrase, "shitting bricks." I laughed especially hard when he said something like, "he was rebuilding the Great Wall of China with shit bricks." Very funny, but also very sad at the same time. I really enjoyed it.

I've read this book several times, and it still hasn't gotten old! George Orwell gives you a lot of "what ifs" to think about. An excellent book that I would recommend to everyone!

I liked the book, though it made me a bit sick to think about what the people in charge can really do.
