My Reviews
This book grabbed me in the first chapter. I could not put it down. The family is so dysfunctional and yet the Children turned out if not OK, above average. Their were parts of their childhood I loved (their father giving them there own stars as a Christmas present, who would think of that) but they truly did not have the basics, food and shelter. This is a book you either love or hate, our book club was half and half.
I really liked this book, it was much better than I anticipated...It made me want to read a biography on Laura Bush. I found it hard to put down, and when I finished it wanted more
My book club loved this book...everyone was moved by it, and it led to a lively discussion
I found it hard to put this book down. It was truly scary and to think that it is a true story. I wanted to read the other prisoner's accounts because they did not all agree with Ingrids'. I think it could have been about 100 pages shorter, but I did enjoy it and think it is worth reading.
It actually had the foundation for being an interesting book. Even though I didn't like the characters I thought it could have been a good read. It was way too long and very repetitive. It had an interest factor as far as dysfunctional families go but not highly believable
I found this book a hard read. Very boring...it was very hard to keep my interest up. the only saving grace was the ending.
I couldn't put this book down. In this day and age bullying is a very serious problem. This led to a very good discussion at our meeting. Our book club rated it overall an 8 out of 10. I personally didn't like the ending!!
