OUr book club not only read this book, we also were able to arrange a phone interview with the author. She spent about 30 minutes on the phone with us. It was fantastic. Our group wrote down on a piece of paper something they would like to do that they havent done yet. We put all the suggestions in a bag and everyone picked randomly from the bag and did someone elses "to do" thing..we got together at the next book club meeting and discussed what we had done...it was great!
Our book club of 12 all read this book . Only one of our members really didn't like the book. The rest of all us agreed its hard to love a book like this because of its very dark and disturbing storyline. Some of us weren't really even sure they would recommend the book. I will say, it was fantastic conversation. We have read over 90 books as a club and this was probaly one of our best discussions. As parents, everyone brought their own insight to this story which made it very interesting.
Our club really enjoyed this book. It was one of our better discussions. Much was learned from the history and time this story took place.
