My Reviews
It was a very good book, and likely a very good depiction of a terrible time in history. However, this type of book feels so draining emotionally that I found myself rushing through it
Such beautiful writing and an adventurous spirit that is nothing like myself - I appreciate her free spirit and feel her anguish through her words
Not my favorite in terms of steamy romance
Definitely a shocker at the end
I loved this book - beautiful writing and enjoyed listening. Some people from our book club struggled to get into it
Loved the parallels created by the two story lines, and definitely know more about Shakespeare - I had no idea! And treatment of women in those years - generally aware, but now with a much greater understanding and empathy.
Also, for me, I recognize some of the phrases and passages from Shakespeare, but hearing in the context of the story really made me appreciate and connect with the poetry more (no matter who wrote it)
One of the lines late in the book referencing that she was planting a seed for women of the future… just top notch.
