My Reviews

The Wives: A Novel by Tarryn Fisher

Addictive, Dramatic, Adventurous

Dark, Interesting, Adventurous

I loved it! It was an easy read and I read it within a few days, as I couldn’t put it down!

The Ruin: A Novel by Dervla McTiernan

Brilliant, Addictive, Dramatic

I loved it! I couldn’t wait to find out what happened. The ending was a complete surprise as well.

The Dry: A Novel by Jane Harper

Addictive, Dramatic, Interesting

This book started off well, but it was quite slow in the middle. The ending was completely random, which I didn’t like!

An Anonymous Girl: A Novel by Greer Hendricks, Sarah Pekkanen

Addictive, Dramatic, Interesting

It was a well written book that was easy enough to read. The ending was a bit anti climatic, but I was eager to get to the end to find out what happened!

The Scholar: A Novel by Dervla McTiernan

Adventurous, Dramatic, Unconvincing

3.5 stars! This book was definitely well written and an easy read. There wasn’??t a lot of suspense building up to the major events. It was relatively predictable, but not necessarily in a bad way.

Normal People: A Novel by Sally Rooney

Beautiful, Addictive, Pointless

I found this book incredibly frustrating, and for that reason I needed to read it in a short space of time. I didn’t have the patience to wait! The book was written in an annoying manner; it was very stop and start, but this allowed the author to successfully depict the awkwardness of the relationship between Marianne and Connell.

I thought it was annoying that there were no quotation marks, yet so much dialogue, but I feel that was just the author’s style.

I liked that we got to really see into Connell’??s mental health struggles, but wished there was more around Mariannes’. I felt a lot more mystery surrounding her mental health carried throughout the book. I think they could have explored that as well as the violence of her family a little more. I wouldâ??ve liked to hear about her experiences with a psychologist, as we did with Connell.

I was pleased when Marianne and Connell finally got together because it was obvious that they were going to from the very beginning!

Despite the frustrations and annoyances I was faced with throughout the book, I still enjoyed it once I got used to the style of writing.

Addictive, Dramatic, Beautiful

Insightful, Interesting, Dramatic

It was a real slog to try and get through this book. Whilst there were some interesting themes, such as race and sexuality, there didn’t seem to be a prominent storyline with your typical complication and resolution.
