My Reviews
I thought it was beautifully written. I could feel the stark beauty and incredible loneliness and isolation of living on the plains in Wyoming, the never ending work on the farm, the cold dark winter, the bitterness of Nettie May and Cora’??s fear and guilt. Clyde and Beulah were also interesting - Clyde growing into such a good man in spite of his abusive father, and Beulah’s magical oneness with nature. The most fascinating portion of the book was in the author’s?? notes in which she explained that pieces of this story were taken from the author’s own ancestors lives, (albeit somewhat loosely!) Great choice!
