My Reviews
I like that this is a book that allows for discussion about the situation not only about how the author wrote it.
If you're really into the fine details of codes and conspiracies, you'll love this book. I think it was too much work. It took until page 90 to finally find a character who you followed for more than one chapter. I went online to find book club questions and discovered that on forums the author was posting positive reviews of his own book. He also had multiple aliases in the forums and other participants pointed this out. They felt that he was trying to 'pad' the buzz about his book.
I normally wouldn't pick a period book. Especially in the mid 1800's. Having this as a book club book gave me a push to read something I would have passed over. I'm glad I read (listened) to it.
I plan to listen to the audio versions of the next two books.
