This sweeping three-generational family saga is a masterful feat of storytelling. Absolutely worthy of being called a great American novel! I'm recommending it to everyone!
Our book club chose this book and absolutely all of us adored it and fell in love w Kya. The sense of place is incredible- could hear the gulls, smell the salty air and just FEEL we were there.
Exquisite writing. I read slowly to savor every sentence. A magical book. Read library copy but just bought the paperback for my own library! Deserves all the prizes it has won. Not for those who want a fast fluffy read. There's a lot here but absolutely worth staying with.
