Beautifully written book which explores a number of themes----father/child relationships, secrets, personal identity, art----amid a number of settings which are vividly crafted by the author. His descriptions of the west Texas landscape as well as WWI France are especially evocative. Secrets are revealed as the novel progresses, some to devastating consequences. A very satisfying read
