My Sisters the Saints: A Spiritual Memoir by Colleen Carroll Campbell

Boring, Slow, Informative
My Sisters the Saints

This former speech writer who "strayed" from her Catholic faith during her early college days became "born again" and was inspired by numerous Saints with whom her family had, in the past, inspired their faith. Very interesting review of the Saints....I personally had difficulty relating to her deep religious fervour...and how it influenced her life. However, it is always informative to learn about coping mechanism and motivation of others.

Beautiful, Romantic, Inspiring
The Art of Hearing Heartbeats

Set in Myanmar (Burma) in 50's and continuing for 40 yrs we learn about the simplicity of Burmese life, customs, superstitions and how two handicapped find love only to be separated and reunited over time. Language, alliteration beautiful. Written in easy to read style; page turner. Much to discuss and our group rated it consistantly between 4-5 stars. Much discussion!

Boys in the Boat

Self motivation during such adverse times despite abject poverty during depression motivated this crew team....groomed from nothing bUt fortitude to go to Olympics. I had no idea what roles each member of a crew team needed to work together to win. Fascinating description of building skulls prior to fiberglass. Told my hubby this is a must read. Will make a compelling movie.
