I had never heard about this phenomenon from our history. I was so glad to get this opportunity to learn about the orphan trains. I will definitely read more about them as I find this topic fascinating but a harsh realism nonetheless.
The book was extremely dark and depressing. This is quite different from her other two books--in fact, all three books were very different from each other. As usual, Ms. Flynn wrote a great mystery but I found the characters difficult to love. The author kept us guessing right up to the end!!
My book club thought the biggest problem was that the book started off slow and repetitive. So some did not make it through the book. We thought the story line was great and it turned out to be a intriguing read in the end.
