This was a very poignant book about early onset Alzheimer's disease. It led to a very good discussion and moved on to end of life issues. The book is very well written and it is easy to identify with the characters.
Well written and documented. A part of American History we should all know about. This book was a
real eye-opener. How does an entire country let a
tyrant come to power?
I didn't think much of the book when I began reading it but as it went on it became much deeper. Our group was really surprised at how much discussion there was from this small book.
A long, difficult journey of many generations of one family. A great deal of violence in the story and no redeeming characters. I kept hoping the story would improve but it never did.
I loved this book. It took a long time to read but it covered a great deal of time, wars, religions, personalities, etc. I also learned a lot about the 15th century and was amazed by what Isabella was able to accomplish, both for good & bad, in her lifetime.
This book starts out with a negative episode. Unfortunately the only thing that kept me reading was the hope that things would improve......they did not. The lack of quotation marks made the reading more difficult. I really don't know what the authors purpose was in writing this book. It had no redeeming value.
This was a fast, fun read. Some of it seemed a bit off, some characters didn't seem real. This would be a good beach read but I don't think it is good for a book discussion.
