Confusing, Adventurous, Slow
Less about policework, more about out-of-place Jews.

This author creates an interesting web of interrelated themes, like things being out of place or the role of fatherhood. He also enjoys grand metaphorical descriptions, some captivating, and others that will last a page to no apparent end.
I enjoyed that book, but found it to be “thick and chunky” to get through.

Texas-Israeli War: 1999 by Howard Waldrop, Jake Saunders

Mis-leading title

So, this book has a mis-leading title. Without giving away too much, don't expect an Israeli invasion of Texas.

That said, the book has it's moments, it is fairly straight forward, and easy to read - especially past the halfway point.

What a douche

The main character is a tough pill to swallow at times. I enjoyed the ride reading this book and thoroughly enjoyed the hard sci-fi bits. The story was just ok - network TV movie level, I feel. But the stuff that happens in the meantime is well worth the read.
