The Paying Guests

Although everyone in the club liked the story they felt it was too long and drawn out.

The Lacuna: A Novel (P.S.) by Barbara Kingsolver

Book Club Recommended
Slow, Interesting, Informative
The Lacuna

PROS: ALL of the characters! Especially Harrison! The words of Harrison were brilliant. Ms. Kingsolver is a remarkable author. I learned so much about the history of that time.
CONS:Difficult to get into. Many of our members gave up.

H Is for Hawk by Helen Macdonald

Slow, Difficult, Boring
Last Chapter Book Club

Although there are some beautifully written sentences/paragraphs we could not get past the story line. If we wanted to read White's book then we would have chosen that for our selection. Perhaps a falconer would enjoy it. The author working through her grief for the loss of her Father just didn't translate for us.

Stillwater: A Novel by William F. Weld

Informative, Poorly Written
Interesting subject matter

Character development was very poor. All around we needed MORE! Loved the subject matter and idea of the book, but that's where it ended.
