My Reviews
Orphan Train contrasts the life of a survivor of the orphan trains with the life in foster care of a modern child. Both had experiences that caused them to be suspicious of care givers. Sharing their life stories, they help each other to more positive attitudes. I found the book to be insightful about relationships and the sense of isolation that can sometimes paralyze us so we continue to make wrong choices. I give this book a thumbs up for interest and for reading by other clubs.
The book had an interesting plot with an unexpected twist at the end. My husband thought the action was a little slow but he liked it well enough to urge me to read it. A seemingly hopeless situation is resolved happily for the lovers because of their basically humane action.
