Introduction

Sometimes Heaven can't wait...

Not one to be deterred by something as inconvenient as death, Elizabeth Dane quickly sets about looking for a way back to her mortal coil. The path back appears in the unlikely form of William Granger, an angry 'Cast Aside' with his own axes to grind. Despite an instant wedge of mutual dislike between them, the two form a tenuous alliance, each agreeing to help the other get what they want.

Armed only with their inability to get along and a plan that involves breaking the one rule that Heaven actually has, what could possibly go wrong?

Discussion Questions

1) The word Granger means farmer and is, in fact, an oblique reference to Francesca Johnson's husband from the Bridges of Madison County. What parallels might exist in that story that tie over to this one?

2) Does our nature change in Heaven?

3) If we are still who we were then how do we get past the issues we had in life, like a lost love?

4) If we just magically don't care about such things anymore then have we not been altered in some fundamental way and at best we are no longer who we were, and at worst, we are, on some level, no longer even human?

5) What about the boredom of infinite time? If we are suddenly okay with this then our Heavenly nature probably is different from us. Is the idea of Heaven really just a longing for justice and closure in life?
