Astra is a grumpy, studious librarian with a dark secret and mysterious past. At twenty-four, she’s lived at the Qor’dashi monastery since she was eight, and has come into her own as the keeper of one of the many libraries in the huge, sprawling religious complex that lives on the side of Ice Mountain. Called “Little Monk” for her reclusive ways, she’s brought unwillingly into the center of attention by the return of her younger brother Aris, who ran away five years before, and his unusual companion: a wounded fire dragon.

The lies of their past come to break apart Astra’s safe little world and reveal her dark magic for all to see. Even if they make it out of Ice Mountain alive, Astra knows nothing will ever be the same.
