Jake Bishop is a young attorney living the dream. He's married to the love of his life, blessed with a new son, living in a lavish Chicago apartment, well on his way to making partner. But the dream is derailed when his wife Blanca dies in a tragic car accident. In an effort to reclaim his life, Jake takes his young son back to their home town of Maple Creek. Then, the unthinkable happens. His son Jonathan is abducted.

Jake embarks upon an arduous journey to find his son as he struggles to maintain his sanity. Over time the leads prove fruitless and despair settles in. He eventually returns to the office to salvage his practice. He finds an envelope containing a letter from his recently departed mentor. The deathbed declaration reveals his mentor's dabbling in the black market, and raises new questions about Blanca's accident. Jake journeys to Peru to find answers. His travels lead him into a dangerous world of black market antiquities, mysterious artifacts, and unexpected revelations.
