I was intrigued by the main character. I can't say he's someone I'd want to hang out with but more like an interesting coworker. I'd like to read more stories with this character. Reminded me of reading Sherlock Holmes.

Several of our members found the book so un-engaging that they didn't finish it. I finished the book just to see what happened. We were disappointed in the lack of character development and the infeasibility of the plot.

Our book club received this book very well...average rating was an 8 (out of 10). The discussion was interesting because the characters in the book and their relationships gave us a lot to talk about. Also we talked a lot about JK Rowling. The only negative comment I heard was the book was a little too long for a group that meets monthly .

I liked it because I couldn't figure out who did it. The characters where very different from other books.

Everyone in our book club loved this book. Fun and interesting characters!

Was slow paced until the end, then took off and wrapped up all the loose ends. Got lost with all the building descriptions. Couldn't have figured out the murderer as there wasn't enough information until the end. With all that said, it was addictive and ready to read the second book.

I'm so glad J.K. Rowling has branched off into detective stories, and her detective is a loveable guy with a perky assistant. It's well-written with nice twists and turns. The book group all loved it.

Excellent mystery with well developed characters

My book club has enjoyed this series. We read the first 2 books, and look forward to the next release. Cormoran Strike is not your typical hero, and his imperfections make him interesting and human and relateable.

Never read any of her Harry Potter books, but her vocabulary makes you look up words! The main character is a very different detective and the locale in London was different. A mystery is always fun to try to figure out early who-done-it, but this one was more difficult than most! We all look forward to reading the sequel "Silkworm".

The character development and the interesting storyline made this a great book.

This book is what I refer to as "light." Although a murder mystery, I was not intrigued by the plot and would list this novel under the young adult genre.

I do not usually read mysteries but since it was for book club I gave it a try. It kept my interest but it was a bit too slow and too long.

If it weren't a book club selection I would not have made it through... first half very slow, accents were written out in dialogue making it difficult to read. Confusing number of characters and names... Strike and Robin save the book with their characters.
