You will enjoy the crusty French characters in this book about a move to the south of France

"Just finished it--How did I miss this one before? What a wonderful book" by pennyslager (see profile) 05/30/08

Lots of fun in the south of France--and Englishman and his wife move to Provence and this is the tale of their first year NOT being visitors. Humorous, light. Great desriptions of characters.

"Funny, Touching - a Memoir that's Everyone's Fantasy" by bookgrouplover (see profile) 10/27/08

Our club is a sucker for travel memoirs and this one fit the bill. As someone else commented, don't know how we missed it! It was also fun talking about what it would be like to do what the author did. Maybe someday...

"Universal Dream" by DeenaR (see profile) 11/24/08

We had fun discussing what we would have done in this situation and how we would navagate living in a different culture.

If this book doesn't make you want to pick up and move to France then your travel gene is dead! Highly entertaining, informative and just plain fun; read in concert with A Dog's Life, A Year in Provence told from the canine viewpoint is priceless.

"A fun year" by SJ (see profile) 06/23/09

we enjoyed this book, but did not find that much to discuss. Would recommend as a light summer read, but not necessarily for book clubs.

"A Year in Provence" by LindaEileen (see profile) 07/05/09

I enjoyed this book, but feel it is a little light for book club discussions.

"Good book, but lacked depth and not much to discuss" by KayL (see profile) 08/12/09

This is a fun, informative read, but for a book club pick? Not so much.
