Fast paced novel about a woman in a moment of her life when she faces her often troubled past in order to forge an adult identity for herself. Includes themes about giving up on dreams, family dynamics, love, societal expectations about marriage / singlehood / parenting, sexual attacks, drug and alcohol abuse, suicide, sex, work, meaning, friendship among others. Despite the many heavy topics, the funny, direct manner in which it’s written makes it a page turner that’s hard to put down. The version that I read had a book club discussion guide.
