Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline

The Orphan Train

First half of the book was fine--fast moving & interesting, although a bit depressing. Then it hit a brick wall. Second half was sterile, with a feeling the author was just tying up loose plot ends. It was hard for me to empathize with the characters in this second half.

The Invention of Wings: A Novel

This was an ok book, but I think I would have enjoyed it a bit more if I had known at the beginning that it was historical fiction (vs. regular fiction). I did particularly enjoy the endnotes which explained what parts were fiction and what parts were based on the historical facts.
