It was a fun, quick, summer read.
The book was written by a very intelligent person. I enjoyed the story but it was hard keeping track of characters and the meanings of the Yiddish words.
This is historical fiction centered around the War of the Roses. It was interesting to read about royal life in that time period.
There were some leaps in the story line that made me feel I missed something. So, I reread parts and that is the way it was written. I liked the main characters. I hated the ending.
I was very interested in the story of the two society girls teaching in the west. I would have enjoyed the book more if there was more of that part of the story.
Barbara Kingsolver is one of my favorite authors because she brings her biology background into the book. I really enjoyed reading about the monarch butterflies. The author also uses strong female characters and has interesting backdrops.
