My Reviews
I was extremely interested in the French response to the Nazi takeover of their country. I found their attempt to hide this dark deed of the past much like our feelings about our internment of the Japanese citizens in our country. While this drew my interest, I was very disappointed in the book's ending. I just did not think it was believable that Julia could find the direct connection to Sarah's family. I also could not believe that Sarah would completely break with the family who had provided a home for her nor that she would commit suicide. Julia's abortion struggle and the ultimate naming of her daughter simply disappointed me. The ending was way too predictable!
