My Reviews
This is a skillfully written book that enables the reader to see, smell, feel, and experience what the author describes. Touching and sad, but hilarious at other times. A broad range of colorful characters. Perfect tone for the 60's in the South.
Absolutely spell binding. Terrific true story that holds you in its grips from beginning to the end. What an amazing man, both Louie and all the brave Americans.
I am about half way through this good book and am thoroughly enjoying it.
Absolutely adored this book. So beautifully told and true, true, true. Have recently seen the movie and it is 'spot on' to the book. It would be so wonderful if we could all learn from our mistakes.....and strive to not make them over and over again.
I met the Author while on a trip to Wyoming this Summer. He was in Cody, Wy for the opening of the Japanese Enrichment Center in Powell, Wyoming. Very emotional recreation of the Japanese Interment Camp, well done Museum. Tom Brokaw was the guest speaker at the Grand Opening Ceremonies. Perfect time for him to be there with this poignant book.
Our Book Club loved this book. Lots of different ways to discuss and share feelings about the family, government, medical facilities. Exciting read.
