My Reviews
I really enjoyed reading this book. I actually learned a lot about schizophrenia. As a teacher, it made me think about the children that we come face to face with, and the lives they must live outside of school. As a parent, it made me thankful that I have a clear and stable mind. It is a great Book Club READ!
What a great read and even better when you follow it up with the movie (as our book club did). The author did a great job conveying the reality of this period in history; and I love that it was from the "helps" perspective. Too often America's history doesn't allow for opportunities to talk about where we have been and where we are now. I loved it!
I liked certain parts of the book. Chapter 18 made me angry and I love a book that can evoke emotion of any kind. The majority of my book club members didn't like the book so much.
I truly loved this romantic, fairytale-like story of Esther and Her King! I could not put it down, and I when it was over I wanted there to be more to read! A must Read for Book Clubs!!!
What I really liked about this book is moreso the conversation that it allowed us to have during our meet about motherhood and daughter-hood. It really made you question your own relationships and it was a reminder that time is precious. I really wanted to go and hug my mom and then go and hug my kiddos!!
