I thought it had a clunky/slow start. Once the author focused on the main characters I really loved it. The magic was fun and different. I absolutely loved the circus back story and imagery. Felt like a lot of story into a short time if that makes sense? It should’ve been fleshed out in places and longer or left some of the plot out.
