My Reviews
We were asked to read and review this title, in addition to another selection that we received. Well, we all LOVED the cover art, but that\\\\\\\'s about all. One member even said that she was so intrigued by the cover art that she couldn\\\\\\\'t wait to read it. Then she realized it was over 500 pages of total confusion. Reminded our group a little bit of \\\\\\\"The Time Traveler\\\\\\\'s Wife,\\\\\\\" the way it went back and forth in time. If you paid less attention to the dates at the beginning of each chapter, that sort of helped.
We also though that Ms. Atkinson\\\\\\\'s writing lacked. Had she been more brief and less wordy, we may have been able to follow much easier.
Thank you, bookmovement.com, for sending us this selection to read, but we all agreed that if we saw it in the bookstore, we\\\\\\\'d skip it for sure.
This was one of those books that you don't get much sleep. This story kept me up late wanting more. You either loved or totally hated the main character. I couldn't put it down because there were some points where I was so mad at him, then others where I just absolutely had to stay awake and see where the story went next. It was super long and I had no problem with that. The author was very wordy but had to be. I don't believe the story could have been conveyed any better if there were less pages. Overall, I'd give it four of five stars. It's had me talking about it quite a bit. So many emotions.
