Story of family and community in a unexpected location

A serious read with many sub plots. The story takes place on the island of Crete and one of its Islands. It is truely an unexpected saga that one would not expect from a mordern author. It is truely a wonderful book.

Generated lots of discussion. The book had a character each member of the book club could relate to. Great choice.

MIT students mesh cleverness and skill to win at blackjack

This book is a fast read with lots of action. It tells the story of MIT students that find a way to win at blackjack at casinos in Las Vegas (primarily). The story chronicles the development of a team, their hard work and practice to learn the system, and their skill and victory at the blackjack tables. It gives you a glimpse of the glamorous lifestyle high rollers’ enjoy in tinsel town.
