A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest J. Gaines
 
A great read that you can't put out of your head for days and months to come.

Prompted great discussions regarding death, life, valuing another's life, compassion, racism and innocence, education and being a teacher. Wonderful book. Quick read that you won't be able to put down until the end.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Didn't seem as long as it was. This historic fiction gave a lot of information that was true to the island of Nantucket and the era.
