This is a book that stays with you, reminding the reader of how tragedy changes lives. I enjoyed the setting of this book as the OKC area is a place I formerly called home. I also enjoyed that there were 3 separate mysteries occuring at the same time, all with varying levels of conclusions presented.
Sure, there is demon possession. There are some unsettling parts of this quirky read. But it's a lighter hand than other books in the genre. There is much about friendship and persistence as well. Just enough of a thrill to keep you on the edge of your seat, but not enough to give you nightmares. No people are killed in the scope of the book, but animal lovers beware.
Our group enjoyed discussing this book. We all found the ending to be a little disappointing, but it spurred good conversation. Some members liked that it was a fast, light read. Others didn't care for the writing.
This book led to quite a bit of discussion as the ending of the book is open to interpretation. Some of the members who didn't quite finish were confused, but I'm hoping all the conversation will make sense when they wrap up the novel. There were great discussion questions in the back of the book we had.
