TransAtlantic: A Novel by Colum McCann

Interesting, Confusing, Informative
fascinating and worth the effort

While it could be slow in parts, with certain chapters more engaging than others, the quality of writing and historical backgrounds make this an interesting read.

Interesting, Slow
Surprisingly thought provoking

We chose this book to challenge ourselves by venturing into the world of science fiction, a genre non in the group typically reads. While slow at first, once it gets going it becomes a real page-turner. The issues faced by mankind, when confronted with an alien species, is well thought out; we found many of these issues to be relevant to the world we live in today. Weeks later, a few were still discussing certain aspects of the book.

Beautifully written story...

Not the earth shattering read that others have indicated, but a beautifully written book. The characters are really well-developed. Only complaint was many felt the ending fell a bit flat. We actually felt like this book would make a good movie.
