Introduction

Stephanie Hosford has a big decision to make. For her 20-year high school reunion, how should she style her hair? Little does she know, in a few months it won't matter - she'll be bald. And huge. What woman wouldn't go a little crazy? After receiving a cancer diagnosis and a positive pregnancy test within days of each other, Stephanie, a happily married mother of one and in the midst of an international adoption, is suddenly fighting for her life, her children - and her sanity. Get ready to laugh, cry, gasp, and cheer on the ultimate 9-month roller coaster that takes us everywhere from the treadmill, to infusion rooms, and even across oceans. You will not forget this wild, true and ultimately satisfying story of love, motherhood and finding the inner strength we all hope is there when we need it. .

Discussion Questions

1. Think about different songs you could apply to life changing events that have occurred in your life. What would those songs, or song titles, be? Why?

2. After finishing this book, think back to how you have interacted with friends or loved ones enduring trauma. How did you react to those people? Would you now change how you treated them, or the questions you asked them? Discuss your change, if any, in perspective.

3. Humor is intertwined within Hosford’s memoir. Discuss the importance of keeping your sense of humor, even in seemingly dire situations.

4. We learn that the roadblocks within our healthcare system are prevalent . Discuss how you navigate this tangled web, or how you think healthcare has changed in the last five to ten years. Have things gotten better? Worse?

5. Though we know there is no way to guarantee a cancer-free future, evidence shows lifestyle can be an important factor in this area; including diet, exercise, and mental outlook. Discuss what you are doing, or what you can change, to make become the healthiest “you” you can be.
