Introduction

"This summer's Gone Girl I gobbled it down in one sitting." ? Anne Lamott, People

Jodi and Todd are at a bad place in their marriage. Much is at stake, including the affluent life they lead in their beautiful waterfront condo in Chicago, as she, the killer, and he, the victim, rush haplessly toward the main event. He is a committed cheater. She lives and breathes denial. He exists in dual worlds. She likes to settle scores. He decides to play for keeps. She has nothing left to lose. Told in alternating voices, The Silent Wife is about a marriage in the throes of dissolution, a couple headed for catastrophe, concessions that can’t be made, and promises that won’t be kept. Expertly plotted and reminiscent of Gone Girl and These Things Hidden, The Silent Wife ensnares the reader from page one and does not let go.

Couldn't put it down, but is not one of my favorite books I've read. The characters pull you in and you can't climb out! Good summer read.

Very dark. I liked it, but thought it was really slow in places.

It's often difficult to connect with a book that contains unlikeable characters. I didn't overtly dislike Jodi or Todd but I didn't like them either. However, the author was still able to pull me into... (read more)

I enjoyed it, but I enjoyed Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn more.

"Like Gone Girl"by diannem (see profile) 01/18/14

If you liked Gone Girl, you will love this book. A quick read, because it is well written and the characters are interesting while not being very likable. A two timing husband gets his due, but who done... (read more)

"Lively discussion to an OK book"by awr115 (see profile) 12/17/13

Overall we found to book to be OK, in contrast we liked Gone Girl much better. It did lead to a lively discussion about marriage, commitment, denial, etd. and we had a lot of laughs. Many of us found... (read more)

"Good read for vacation or commute to work."by thewanderingjew (see profile) 11/08/13

This is a very easy book to listen to, and the reader will easily be placed under its spell. When compared to “Gone Girl”, however, one could say that The Silent Wife is also about dysfu... (read more)
