I really enjoyed this book because of the unique perspective it provided regarding Nazi Germany--what it was like to be a child growing up in Germany at the time. There are so many topics to discuss, and our book club hardly scratched the surface! Although it was a little hard to get into in the beginning, the second half of the book was hard to put down! I also will admit that some of the symbolism was lost on me, particularly as it relates to the colors referred to throughout the book. However, a very worthwhile read!
