Ugh. Such bad writing. Overflowing with cliches.
Not a fan of the writing style but an easy to read character study
Slow moving with not much plot progression but beautiful, immersive descriptions of a time and place. Worth the read
Perfect for light reading with an unrealistic but fun ending.
Easy to follow the story without having to strain yourself. The author takes the subject matter seriously but presents it with humor and grace. Not groundbreaking but thoroughly enjoyable!
A fairy tale story with stereotypical “southern” characters that I’ve seen a million times before.
The book was slow moving. I did not find myself fully immersed at any point, and the subject matter was quite heavy at times. That being said, it was well written and gives us a look at the life of a real woman, often overlooked, who greatly impacted governmental policy that still affects us today. Would recommend.
Too slow, could not find any interest in these characters. Did not finish.
Half enjoyed it. The male character was well written, charming and interesting. The author lost me in the parts with the female character. She had no personality and her story seemed implausible and frankly, boring. The book would have been better if the writer focused solely on the male protagonist, especially since there was little to connect the two plot lines.
Not exactly life changing, and there were definitely parts of the story that made me roll my eyes in disbelief. But it mostly flowed well and was an enjoyable read with a fun twist. I wouldn’t seek out any of the authors other books, but it was a nice casual read.
