Having worked with children with special needs I found this book tapped into the feelings, emotions, isolation and comradery that many children with disabilities experience.

This book addresses both the positives and negatives of the behaviors,expectations and pressures of competition of high school athletics in small communities. Loved the character development and the integration of the impact of live in the "heights" vs. life in the "hollow" on both the adults as athletes in this competitive environment. RINGS TRUE from my experiences.
