"A story of love and loss" by marriednoel (see profile) 01/25/07

This book brought to life the Arizona territory in the late 1800s. Not only did you learn about life from the journals of Sarah Elliott, but you also discovered her deepest emotions and a love that would last forever. I have never read a more wonderful love story. You felt everything that Sarah was feeling and understood her character, her dreams, her desires, and the true love one can only feel for the love of their life. A must read for any romantic.

"Our book group really enjoyed this book. Written in diary form, tales of life on the prairie." by linlo (see profile) 03/26/07

Makes life today seem like a piece of cake. Sarah Prine is a formidable character.

"This is our club's favorite book." by coachjenn (see profile) 05/08/07

Of all the books we've done, this is the only one that appealed to all of us. We also enjoyed the sequel Sarah's Quilt and are looking foward to the 3rd coming out in Sept. 2007. Talking to the author on a phone interview for our club was an amazing treat. I highly recommend it. We all want to be a little more like Sarah, the strong main character in this series.

"Inspired by tales from the authors Great Grandmother. It contains the journals of Sarah Pines, who grew up in the pioneer days." by ateather (see profile) 06/05/07

I thought the book was good once I got past the first 30 pages or so...the poor grammer was hard to deal with but improves as Sarah becomes more educated. I enjoyed it and think it would be a great movie!

"Our first book club book" by apriljoanne (see profile) 08/31/10

I would not have normally read this book on my on as I usually don't pick "old time" books. I prefer to read books about modern day people or the future. But I am so glad that I read this! As a wife and mother this has put my life in a completely new perspective. It really makes you think about your own current situation and appreciate all the little things that you have each day.
It was a moving book, slightly predictable but a good read. I laughed and cried and we had a great discussion on the book afterward.

I found this a very difficult read at first. However, after about 70-80 pages, I couldn't put it down. Because it is written as a diary, I found myself caught up in her character, her struggles and her victories. It was a very realistic viewpoint of life in the Territories and gave you a great appreciation for the strength, courage and fortitude of those who look that era's lifestyle in stride.

  "A women's epic journey" by mcarreno27 (see profile) 08/03/12

I was skeptical when beginning this book because of the purposely poor grammar. It made it difficult for me to read. However, the protagonist grows and changes quickly. The love story is soft and touching and the realistic struggles the narrator encounters are interesting. I truly enjoyed reading this novel.n

"A Favortie" by FriendshipSisters (see profile) 09/11/12

"These is my Words" is a epic story encompassing the life a a girl/woman from 1881-1901. It is written in the form of a journal and is deeply moving and yet really treats the reader into a glimpse of life in the Arizona Territories.

The main character, Sarah, is smart, stubborn, and hard working. I loved that she was a strong female that stood up for what is right despite her circumstance and kept fighting through tough times. The relationship between she and Jack was enduring, and I laughed out loud at their bantering. Sarah's true self is exposed in her written word and it was amazing how 112 years later, it isn't much different than how women think and feel today.

This is a great story and one of my all time favorites. This is a great choice for any reader to take a look back in history and the lives of women blazing the frontier.

"These is My Words" by kindlegal (see profile) 08/27/13

I loved this book of a young girl growing up in Arizona, New Mexico, and traveling by wagon train and train from there to Texas in America post Civil War. She grows into a strong and special woman as our American frontier develops. The strength to face birth, death, Indian raids and the need to be resilient forms her life and that of her family.

"All Members Loved This Book" by LadyD918 (see profile) 05/06/16

For the first time in 18 months all 7 of our book club members agreed that we loved this book. The theme of a young, uneducated pioneer woman who loves life and learning and is competent and brave is one we usually find interesting. The romance is every woman's dream.
