While i thought Perdu's behavior somewhat curious, it was an interesting story that unfolds against descriptive landscapes and people of southern France.
This narrative is written from the author's perspective relative to what he observed. It's not a life long memoir nor a total social commentary or psychological review, but rather just what he gleaned from those around him. It's one person's opinion and I thought it was interesting.
This is an interesting story about a young woman who shares her feelings about living on a tea plantation with her new husband. There is some mystery about what has come before and there are intriguing relationships with her family and friends. I liked it because it was easy to read and kept my interest about another time and place.
Interesting but scary story for these times. Good warning as to how repression can destroy societies.
Beryl Markham was not stereotypical of her generation, perhaps from her upbringing, or perhaps born with a desire to experience and achieve more. Enjoyed learning about her!
The book had a good premise for the story, but changing the names of the characters and not fully developing some (such as Maud) was frustrating.
