A Constellation of Vital Phenomenon

Our book club really liked this book. It was educational as many of us didn't know specifics about Chechnya. We all agreed that his writing was beautiful and we liked the story. At times the time line was confusing. In the end, we thought that we all appreciate what we have and the lives we are able to live.

The Lake House

The book club enjoyed the book overall but everyone agreed it was too long and that parts of it seemed to be contrived. The author took too long to reveal the mystery and by that time it seemed predictable. That being said, we all enjoyed the plot overall.

The Casual Vacancy

All of the club agreed that the writing was good and it kept our interest. Sometimes the number of characters was confusing, especially in the beginning. Not many, maybe one, were sympathetic and overall it was a pretty depressing read.

The Life We Bury by Allen Eskens

We all enjoyed the book, although we wished it had been more about the relationship between Carl and Joe. It got a bit melodramatic at the end, maybe unbelievable.

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks

Every member of our club loved this book. So educational but not written in a way that was difficult to understand or dry. The author brought humanity to the story and told the family's story in such a way that we all felt great empathy for them and wanted to learn more about them.
